Tree Rebate Program
TreesLouisville, in partnership with the Louisville Metro Division of Community Forestry, is running a Tree Rebate Program as an incentive for homeowners to plant more trees. This program is open to all residents of Jefferson County. Through this program, participants can earn a rebate of 40% (up to $80) on the purchase of a shade tree. Rebates are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis until funds run out.
The eligibility requirements are below:
- Tree must be considered a shade tree (i.e. larger canopy trees - oaks, elms, maples, etc.) though they will accept smaller species like redbuds or serviceberries to accommodate smaller yards
- Tree must be planted in a residential yard
- Maximum of three tree applications per household
- Rebate does not include sales tax or any other costs - delivery, planting, other materials
- Tree must measure at least one inch in diameter at a point six inches above the soil line
2017 Neighborhood Summit Community Showcase
The 2017 Neighborhood Summit Community Showcase will be held Saturday, October 28 from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the Kentucky Center for African American Heritage, 1710 West Muhammad Ali Boulevard. Come experience and learn from the community development success stories happening in the historic Portland and Russell neighborhoods. There will be networking opportunities, mobile tours, keynote speakers, lunch, and a neighborhood vendor fair. Volunteer for the Louisville Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular
Metro Parks and Recreation is looking for volunteers for the 5th Annual Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular at Iroquois Park. Volunteers are needed from 6 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. on weeknights and 6 p.m. until midnight on weekends for the event that runs October 12 through November 5.
